Our cruise ship, Brilliance of the Seas, docks in Lanzarote during our 12 day cruise. Lanzarote is part of the Canary Islands located off the northwestern coast of Africa. Its landscape is desolate and appears to be void of life due to a large scale volcanic eruption that took place centuries ago. While some may see bleakness at first glance, you have to take a closer look to see the beauty in the island's barren topography.
